A math circle is a group meeting of professional mathematicians and students who work together to solve challenging and interesting problems.  The goal is to have fun working on problems and kindle a passion for mathematics and problem solving.

If you are a girl who:

- Loves to solve problems
- Is curious about mathematics and using what you've learned
- Would like to meet others who share your enthusiasm for mathematics

The Tulsa Girls' Math Circle is open to girls from the Tulsa area who are in 6th grade and up. Beginning with fall of 2017 there will be two separate groups of the math circle:  the Gold Group for beginning students in middle school, and the Blue Group for students who have completed at least Algebra I.  Meetings will be held on the campus of the University of Tulsa on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Faculty from the University of Tulsa, community mathematicians, and TU mathematics students will participate as mentors and presenters.

The Gold Group is for students in middle school who have not completed Algebra I. This beginning group will look at interesting topics in many areas of mathematics not found in the usual school curriculum.  Emphasis will be on mathematical discovery, developing problem solving approaches, mathematical discussion and group work.

The Blue Group of the Tulsa Girls’ Math Circle is for those students who have strong arithmetic skills and have some basic experience with algebra.  They should have the equivalent of 1-2 years in the TGMC Gold group, or be in at least 8th grade.
